Original Design to Product
Woven Motion celebrates art in textile creativity. From hand knitted sculptures, to original fabric design, through to limited edition hand finished textile products, Joan's creations embody craftsmanship, originality and creativity.
Each piece is designed by Joan to bring beauty and function into your everyday life.
Woven Motion celebrates the Burren in Co Clare where Joan lives in Kilfenora. She designs her signature fabric based on The Burren Gentian, a beautiful blue arctic alpine flower that makes its appearance in springtime.
The Spring Gentian
The way the gentian ignites the heart with its fluid and timeless beauty greatly influences the patterns Joan creates. She draws from the base colours of the limestone, grass, sunshine, summer sky, sunsets, and the geographical lines, dark, cavernous depths hidden beneath the rock. The interaction of sky, land and water intricately shape all her designs and fabric choices.
Dynamic Art
Joan creates imagery that can be worn as stylish bags or scarves, functional as a bookmark, and shareable as cards or gifts.
Textile Sculptures
Joan knits stories...personal narratives of family, love, union, creation, humour and emotion.
